  • Larry Nassar is in court again for a third and final sentencing hearing in Michigan. So far more than 250 women and girls have accused him of sexual abuse

In the last few months, numerous athletes, including several Olympians, have accused former USA Gymnastics team doctor Larry Nassar of sexual abuse while training at the facility.

Governor Greg Abbott on Tuesday ordered the Texas Rangers to investigate claims that disgraced former USA Gymnastics doctor Larry Nassar used the Karolyi Ranch in Walker County to sexually abuse young female athletes.

"The public statements made by athletes who previously trained at the Karolyi Ranch are gut-wrenching. The people of Texas demand, and the victims deserve, nothing less", he said.

During last week's marathon sentencing hearing for Nassar in MI, several athletes including United States gymnast Mattie Larson, claimed they were molested by Nassar at the former national training center for USA Gymnastics in Huntsville.

Last week, the Dallas Morning News reported that Nassar practiced medicine in Texas without a Texas medical license. Early previous year, three accusers spoke with "60 Minutes", describing what they said was an emotionally abusive environment at the Texas ranch.

A renowned gymnastics training center outside of Houston is now under scrutiny after athletes recently came forward claiming they were sexually assaulted there.

In the late spring of 2015, inside the Karolyi Ranch, visiting coach Sarah Jantzi overheard a troubling conversation.

The ranch hosted training camps for more than a decade until earlier this year. Maggie Nichols, Jantzi's star gymnast who, at 14, made the USA women's national team, was speaking with Aly Raisman, captain of the 2012 and 2016 gold-medal-winning Olympic teams.

Other gymnasts have also said they were abused at the ranch.

Two weeks ago, Olympic gold medal-winner Simone Biles posted on Twitter, "It breaks my heart even more to think that as I work toward my dream of competing in Tokyo 2020, I will have to continually return to the same training facility where I was abused".

"It is impossibly hard to relive these experiences and it breaks my heart even more to think that as I work towards my dream of competing in Tokyo 2020, I will have to continually return to the same training facility where I was abused", Biles said in the statement. The assaults took place while he was also employed by Michigan State University.
