Be sure to check out the "Havana" hitmaker's eponymous debut solo album dropping January 12! As for exactly why did she leave Fifth Harmony, the songstress admitted to the NYT that it was the first song she did without the group, "I Know What You Did Last Summer" along with her BFF Shawn Mendes that started to created tension with her bandmates. Lauren Jauregui, 21, Normani Kordei, 21, Dinah Jane Hansen, 20 and Ally Brooke, 24, then released a separate statement saying they were blindsided by the news and were first informed of it "through her representatives".

It seems like Camila Cabello's record label didn't actually have a lot of faith in her breakout hit, "Havana". As you can imagine, it was tough for her to watch, which she did live on TV as it aired at home in her living room with her mom.

After attending writing sessions with producers such as Diplo and Cashmere Cat, "it became clear that it was not possible to do solo stuff and be in the group at the same time".

She discovered her love for the delicacy during a visit to the homeware store after buying her own home in Miami, she told Elvis Duran Morning Show in NY on Thursday. Now, in a must-read new interview with the New York Times, Cabello is giving her side of the story.

When that last quote was tweeted out, Camila quoted it and wrote, "WAIT WAIT WAIT WAIT WHAT?"

I just think she is going to have an unbelievable year, cause she is... "I wasn't expecting it, I wasn't prepared for it-especially because at that point I'd moved on from it". After that track was out in the open, the rest of Fifth Harmony's relationship with her turned rather icy. I was just like, 'What? Why?'... I have to make space for the good stuff to happen in my life...

With wailing horns and Cabello's sultry delivery, the Pharrell-produced Havana is unlike anything else in the mainstream Top 40 right now: a slinky, dance-floor-ready ode to the Cuban city in which she was born that further demonstrates the desire for more Latin representation in pop after the runaway successes of Despacito and Mi Gente a year ago.

"I just love that attitude, there's a vibrance here that makes me feel good".
