11 January, 2018, 00:29 | Author: Gregory Stephens
  • Rainy, warm Thursday ahead

Blizzard conditions are possible in parts of the Dakotas, Nebraska, western Iowa and Minnesota. By Friday evening, precipitation will be all snow. This will lead to possible sidewalks and roads icing up ahead of the snowfall.

After temperatures on Monday reached 40 in Kalispell under mostly sunny skies, colder air is expected settle over the Flathead on Wednesday.

Thursday may bring some snow and possibly a wintry mix, according to the National Weather Service.

Below, we take a closer look at what to expect over the next several days as Winter Storm Hunter tracks across the country.

Snow will taper off during the afternoon and winds will lighten up which will help to improve any visibility issues.

Sunday night: A 20 percent chance of snow, low around 1.

A Winter Storm Watch includes most of Northwest Iowa Wednesday night through Thursday. Power outages also are possible.

Wind-driven snow is expected to be in the upper Midwest and northern Great Lakes. Blowing and drifting snow possible.

Rain will start in the Sacramento area around 5 a.m. and continue throughout the day, with temperatures staying in the mid 50's. Totals over a foot are likely in the higher terrain.

6 p.m. - midnight: Mostly cloudy, very cold and dry. We have to see how the path of the area of low pressure becomes more defined in the next 24 hours.

Friday-Friday night: Snow, or rain changing to snow, could extend from the mid-Mississippi Valley into the Ohio Valley and Great Lakes. There is still some uncertainty on how much and where the heaviest snow will fall.
