Valencia prepare £12 million bid for Arsenal midfielder Francis Coquelin

  • Coquelin is no longer a regular starter at Arsenal and has fallen behind in the pecking order

The Gunners midfielder has fallen down the pecking order under Arsene Wenger this season.

According to French radio station RMC, Coquelin has now signed off on a contract offer from Valencia and is happy to move.

Crystal Palace and West Ham have also been linked although Wenger insisted on Tuesday that he has received no contact from the latter.

Francis Coquelin is moving closer to Valencia.

Coquelin departs with FA Cup winners' medals for in 2015 and 2017 - and may be heading back to the Champions League.

Moyes revealed in December that he was looking to add to his squad as he attempts to secure the Hammers' Premier League status. Palace have found it hard in the league this season, but have been in good form since Roy Hodgson took over from Frank de Boer.

Although Coquelin has been peripheral this season, his sale is a further sign that Wilshere has won his battle to convince manager Arsene Wenger that he does have a realistic long-term future at the club.

The Frenchman has been at Arsenal since joining from Stade Lavallois as a 17-year-old in July 2008 following a successful trial.

Coquelin has been in and out of the Arsenal first team due to his injuries.

Arsenal and Valencia have come together for the second time in five months to work out an agreement on a transfer, this time the player being Francis Coquelin.
