Rumors that surfaced in December that Chinese smartphone maker Huawei was working on a first-of- its-kind deal to sell its handsets directly to USA consumers through AT&T have been dashed by new reports indicating that a pending agreement has fallen through.
Huawei said in a statement to Reuters on Tuesday that its flagship premium smartphone Mate 10 Pro - Huawei's challenge to the iPhone - will not be sold in the United States via a telecoms carrier but only through open channels. Huawei told Reuters that while it will sell the Mate 10 in the U.S., it will only be through "open channels" and not via any wireless carrier. This follows closely on news that AT&T would cancel its own launch of the Mate 10 Pro for similar reasons. Now, the smartphone maker has confirmed that that will no longer be the case. The award will be presented during the CES show in Las Vegas from 9 to 12 January 2018.

So far there is no sign that Huawei is trying to strike a handset sales deal with any of the other major US mobile carriers, such as T-Mobile, Verizon or Sprint.
