The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have celebrated Princess Charlotte's first day at nursery by sharing photographs of the adorable two-year-old on her first day at the school.

Kensington Palace announced that Charlotte would be attending the nursery in late 2017 with the tweet: 'Their Royal Highnesses have also announced this morning that Princess Charlotte will attend the Willcocks Nursery School in London from January 2018'.

It's based in the hall of Holy Trinity Church, next door to the Royal Albert Hall and Kensington Gardens, and down the road from the Natural History Museum, Science Museum and Victoria and Albert Museum, so Charlotte can expect various educational outings and visits to the park.

Charlotte, 2, was dressed in a red coat, by United Kingdom children's fashion line Amaia, and red shoes for her first day at Willcocks Nursery School in London. Looks like the toddler princess enjoys horses as much as her great grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II.

It encourages "high standards, excellence and good manners" and has an all-female teaching staff.

And, according to the Kensington Palace Instagram account, it was the Duchess of Cambridge who captured this memorable moment.

But it appears that you get your money's worth, based on the glowing Ofsted report.

The school offers pottery and poetry classes, and part of the induction includes a short "stay and play" session where pupils are asked to bring a toy or photo in to show from home.

George was taken for his first day at school by the Duke of Cambridge.
