More than 125 firefighters raced to Trump Tower in New York City's Midtown Manhattan today, where smoke could be seen billowing from the rooftop of Donald Trump's lavish home.

The Fire Department of NY said it was called there at around 7am (noon GMT) after the blaze was reported on the top floor.

Roughly 84 firefighters responded to the scene initially. The fire was believed under control and no injuries were reported, NBC News reported on Twitter.

The Fire Department of NY says the fire started around 7 a.m. Monday at the building that contains U.S. President Donald Trump's home and business offices.

So far, only one person has been reportedly injured in the fire incident in the building, which houses both residences and businesses.

Trump was in Washington on Monday morning, according to his public White House schedule. "The men and women of the #FDNY are true heros and deserve our most honest thanks and praise!"

"One minor injury to a firefighter, some debris fell on him, and one engineer who got up there with a fire extinguisher, inhaled some smoke, refused medical assistance".
