  • Ahed Tamimi 17 was arrested along with her mother

A second video showed the girls asking the soldiers to move, since they were blocking the steps to a family home in the village of Nabi Saleh in the West Bank.

According to Ahed's father Bassem, the Tamimi family, who are well-known activists in the village of Nabi Saleh, abruptly woke up from their sleep at around 3am, with Israeli forces loudly banging on their front door and shouting.

Ahed and her family continue their struggle.

Tamimi was arrested a day after a video of her slapping two Israeli occupation soldiers in a West Bank village went viral.

The girls filmed the soldiers with cellphones, which seemed to indicate they were trying to instigate a violent response from the soldiers.

In a short documentary, Ahed said that her dream is to become a football player, describing the difficulty she faces at the Israeli checkpoint when she wants to get to school.

Israeli security forces made the arrest overnight Monday. We are used to criticism from the global community about the violence of the occupation, but we are not so accustomed to criticism over two soldiers who thought before raising their hands to strike.

Minister of Education Naftali Bennett has already determined Ahed's sentence: "She should spend her life in prison".

"But because we resist, we pay the price". Numerous videos were shared on Ahed's own Facebook.

In 2012, Ahed was awarded with "Hanzala Courage Award" by Başakşehir Municipality in Istanbul for challenging Israeli soldiers, who had arrested her brother. In this reality, every protest by the residents of Nabi Saleh is considered illegal by the military, and is suppressed with violence - whether tear gas, rubber bullets, live fire, and other means.

Manal herself still suffers from knee pains after Israeli forces shot her multiple times in the knees with rubber bullets during a demonstration three years ago. "This is also an important message", Liberman said.

"This is making the children fear that they will be the next ones to be either be injured, killed or arrested".

The Palestinian NGO Badil told Al Jazeera that it was common for Palestinians to sleep with their clothes on in order to "avoid further invasion of privacy and embarrassment" during the raids.

Children are particularly affected by these raids, Badil said, adding that Palestinian children often suffer from insomnia, bed-wetting, and nightmares.
