'Time Magazine called to say that I was PROBABLY going to be named "Man (Person) of the Year", like last year, but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot.

The US President took to twitter to say that the magazine had told him the would "probably" be selected as Person of the Year.

And it's a very important magazine, and I've been lucky enough to be on the cover many times this year - and last year. "I said probably no good and took a pass. Thanks anyway!" the president tweeted.

Before he won "Person of the Year", Mr Trump hung a fake Time Magazine cover in several of his golf clubs, declaring him "a television smash!" The magazine said it doesn't comment on its choice until publication, the Associated Press reported. Trump said in a tweet. "But I'm sure you still have that fake TIME cover somewhere in storage".

But the real estate tycoon came up trumps previous year, when the magazine gave him the title, describing him as the "President of the Divided States of America".

In April 2013, he made similar comment, tweeting: 'The Time Magazine list of the 100 Most Influential People is a joke and stunt of a magazine that will, like Newsweek, soon be dead.

Former adviser to former President Obama and current co-host of "Pod Save America" Dan Pfeiffer tweeted that Trump's claim is "sad" and the president is "so needy for approval".

Hollywood just called to say that I was PROBABLY going to be named the next James Bond but I would have to agree to an interview and a major photo shoot.

In a tweet late Friday as he spent the Thanksgiving holiday in Florida, Trump sounded dismissive of the honor he received a year ago and could well receive again.

A year before, German Chancellor Angela Merkel was named Person of the Year.

The president was chosen as the "Person of the Year" for 2016.

Hate to tell you but that PROBABLY means you're NOT Person of the Year.
