Who will pick up the slack with Paul Millsap sidelined?

  • Nuggets Notes: Chandler '95 Percent' Certain He'll Suit Up in Houston

The Denver Nuggets say they're exploring options to fix All-Star Paul Millsap's torn ligament in his left wrist amid concerns he'll need surgery that will sideline him until late February.

Millsap suffered the injury over the weekend during the Nuggets' 127-109 loss to the Lakers.

He was already getting plenty of run (30.9 minutes per game this season), but his usage now ranks him 43rd among small forwards, a rate that has plenty of room for growth.

The 32-year-old Paul Millsap is averaging a tally of 16.0 points, 6.3 rebounds and 3.2 assists in his first season with the Denver Nuggets. Which players will see their values rise the most in his absence? Denver is giving up roughly five points per 100 possessions fewer on defense this season compared to last.

The Nuggets (10-7) will take on the Houston Rockets (13-4) Wednesday night.

Millsap is second on the team in scoring and rebounding-just behind center Nikola Jokic.

Kenneth Faried will likely step in as the starting power forward if Millsap does indeed miss an extended amount of time.

Nuggets assistant Wes Unseld Jr., who filled in as the head coach while Michael Malone was suspended for Monday's game, said prior to that contest that he was not aware of a timetable for Millsap's return but that he would be re-evaluated "at some point".
