Patriots Hold Off Chargers 21-13 for 4th Straight Win

  • WATCH: Chargers' Travis Benjamin runs one of the worst punt returns in NFL history

The Patriots dominated the possession game, holding the ball for for just under 37 minutes to the Chargers' 23, racking up 27 first downs to the Chargers' 16.

Gostkowski would redeem himself with a 21-yard field goal with 1:08 left to play in the game to put the Patriots up 21-13.

New England's pass defense had been culpable for the large number of big plays against it earlier in the season, but this time, an error in the run game proved costly.

The response by the Patriots was, well...more Patriot-like.

After a touchdown pass from Tom Brady to Rob Gronkowski tied the game, the Chargers went three-and-out before forcing a punt. Brady caught the Chargers with 12 men on the field for one of the third down conversions, certainly a specialty of his through the years. After recovering with the ball, Benjamin made a decision to run from coverage - into the end zone - where he was pinned down by Matthew Slater and Jonathan Jones, giving the Patriots a safety and a 9-7 lead. That's where he got tackled behind the goal line, bringing the Patriots to a 9 to 7 advantage.

Here are ten reasons why they are in fact the greatest team.

Bosa's second-quarter sack of New England Patriots star Tom Brady on Sunday was the 19th of his two-year National Football League career.

Melvin Gordon rushed 14 times for 132 yards and a touchdown while adding one reception for seven yards in Sunday's Week 8 loss to the Patriots.
