Chris Hemsworth says he almost turned down offer to play Thor

  • The laugh Thor lounge Hulk and Thor are like the Morecambe and Wise of the Marvel franchise

After watching Waititi for a couple of minutes, it's easy to see where Thor: Ragnarok's anarchic humour comes from.

In Marvel Studios' "Thor: Ragnarok", Thor is imprisoned on the other side of the universe without his mighty hammer and finds himself in a race against time to get back to Asgard to stop Ragnarok-the destruction of his homeworld and the end of Asgardian civilization-at the hands of an all-powerful threat, the ruthless Hela. Occasionally, however, an auteur will come aboard the MCU and help make something truly unique-often with the help of the cast.

Reviews for Thor: Ragnarok came out this week, and it's now at 98% on Rotten Tomatoes.

The Independent spoke with Tessa Thompson recently about working with Waititi and how his approach to making movies translated to Thor: Ragnarok. Clearly, the director has done something right with the Thor franchise, and seems to understand the sci-fi genre quite well.

Chris Hemsworth is simply unbelievable, in recent years he has really embraced his comic sensibilities and he has truly made Thor his own, I can't quite imagine anyone else in the role, he does it so well. He further commented: "They want new voices and different ways of telling stories. All the work to do with actors, all the rescripting stuff in the moment - that's what I want to do, really". This is most obvious with Jeff Goldblum's Grandmaster, which shares numerous actor's singular traits.

"We improvised a lot of the movie".

Star Wars would probably be the dream directing job for nearly every up and coming director out there, but yet it is apparently something which Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Watiti is too keen on doing apparently. He said: "Lolz, I like to complete my films".
