Taco Bell is preparing to open hundreds of "cantina style" restaurants across the country with some radical changes, according to a new report.

Taco bell plans to ditch the drive-through and serve alcohol at 300 new locations, as part of its expansion into urban markets, the fast food chain announced.

There are now 6,000 Taco Bells nationwide, but its latest vision caters to a slightly different, urban-leaning market.

But forget about ordering from your auto - the new locations will not have drive-thrus. The hipper vibe and smaller scale of these cantinas highlight another point, that the chain "isn't afraid to try new things", according to Grams.

The cantina-style restaurants will feature artwork, open kitchens and digital menu boards, Food & Wine writes.

Taco Bell outposts that now serve alcohol are in Chicago, Cleveland, San Francisco and Las Vegas.

Taco Bell's chief operating officer credits millennials' moving into downtown areas helping to revitalize urban areas.

The restaurants won't have drive-thru windows but will offer beer, wine, sangria, and slushies with tequila, rum or vodka.

The Tex-Mex brand is always looking to flawless a new, even innovative or peculiar item.
