The 11 AM forecast cone from the National Hurricane Center shows Jose reduced to a tropical storm by Wednesday.

Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands could see watches issued as early as Sunday.

As of 8AM Tuesday, Jose was a Cateogory 1 Hurricane with sustained winds of 75 miles per hour.

New Jersey, Delaware, Long Island Sound, Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard are all in the possible path of Jose, according to the National Hurricane Center, and all along the East Coast risky surf and rip currents are expected.

Maria is one of three storms churning in the Atlantic Ocean, but it poses the most danger to the hurricane-battered Caribbean.

Vázquez said forecasters measured wind gusts of up to 114 miles per hour in the small island of Culebra during Hurricane Irma, which didn't directly hit Puerto Rico.

Tuesday into Tuesday night will see winds Northeast at 20-30 miles per hour, with maybe a gust over 40. Maria may become a Major Hurricane, impacting Puerto Rico, by the middle of next week.

Meanwhile, Hurricane Jose, located about 420 miles south-southeast of Cape Hatteras, NC, and 435 miles west-southwest of Bermuda, is moving northward with maximum sustained winds of 80 mph. Storm surge is also possible on the Suffolk County shoreline. By Thursday Jose will be much weaker and will be pulling further east away from the New England coast. This storm will track off to the west-northwest into the middle of next week as it passes through the open waters of the eastern and central Atlantic. The islands of Antigua, Barbuda, St. Kitts, Nevis, and Montserrat issued hurricane watches Saturday.

There were no changes with Tropical Storm Lee on the 5 p.m. advisory. The exact placement of the heaviest rain, sparked by tropical rain bands, will be determined by the storm's final track.

Tropical storm warnings were in effect from Woods Hole, Mass., to Sagamore Beach, Mass.; Block Island, R.I.; Martha's Vineyard, Mass.; and Nantucket, Mass.
