A total of 10 out of 12 jurors agreed on Friday that Weier had a mental disorder when she and her classmate Morgan Geyser stabbed their sixth-grade classmate 19 times.

Weier, now 15, already pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree intentional homicide in a deal with prosecutors in August and she could now be sent to a mental institution for up to 25 years, although a three-year term had been suggested in the deal.

Forensic psychologist Gregory Van Rybroek, giving evidence at the trial in Wisconsin of one of the defendants, Anissa Weier, said the delusion was so strong about the fictional creature that she "couldn't stop herself".

Both girls involved in stab attack told detectives that they did it in order to protect their families from the supernatural devil who depicted as resembling unnaturally tall and thin man with a featureless and black face, who wears a black suit only. Jurors will determine whether she was mentally ill at the time of the stabbing.

A psychologist has testified that a 12-year-old girl suffered from a shared delusion with a friend that led to the stabbing of another girl in a Wisconsin park in 2014.

Anissa Weier trembled as the jury's verdict was read after a week of testimony and some 11 hours of deliberations.

Judge Michael Bohren told jurors they must decide whether Weier had a mental illness at the time of the crime and if so, whether she lacked the capacity to understand her wrongful conduct. Westendorf was appointed by a judge to evaluate Weier, now 15, after her plea.

Slender Man first appeared on the internet in 2009. She had faced up to 10 years in prison if she was found mentally fit. Most cases involve spouses, a parent and child, or siblings, she said. The victim survived getting stabbed 19 times. Leutner told Fisher her mother tried to assure her it was all fiction, but she also told the detective that she still was uncertain and wanted to believe Geyser even after she stabbed her, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.

Waukesha County Assistant District Attorney Kevin Osborne told jurors that Weier went along with the attack to preserve her one and only friendship with Geyser.

Both Weier and Geyser were originally charged with being a party to attempted first-degree intentional homicide.

A second psychologist has testified about the delusional mental state of a girl who's admitted to helping stab a classmate almost to death in a Wisconsin park in 2014.
