Security tightened along Myanmar border to check Rohingyas' influx

The most recent surge of refugees came after a Rohingya militant group attacked several police posts and a military base in Rakhine on August 25.

Meanwhile, a Pakistani lawyer Barrister Iqbal Jafri has submitted an application to the International Court of Justice seeking registration of a case against Myanmar ruling party head Aung San Suu Kyi and religious leader Ashen Waratho for their alleged involvement in killing of Rohingya Muslims.

Rights monitors and fleeing Rohingya say the army and Rakhine vigilantes have unleashed a campaign of arson aimed at driving out the Muslim population. "She must be held accountable and tried", said party spokesman KM Atiqur Rahman. For instance, Rohingya Muslims, the most persecuted ethnic group in the world, has caught little attention of the world and Aung San Suu Kyi.

Rohingya Muslims are once more fleeing in droves into Bangladesh, trying to escape the latest surge in violence in Rakhine state between a shadowy militant group and Myanmar's military.

In the past, some Muslims from Myanmar had entered Manipur illegally and they are now in prison.

Speaking to ISNA, Qassemi said that Iranian embassy in Bangladesh has also made contacts with the Dhaka to prepare the ground for sending humanitarian aid to the Rohingya refugees.

Almost all of Myanmar's 1.1 million Rohingya live in the western coastal state of Rakhine.

Myanmar on Wednesday announced that it is negotiating with China and Russian Federation to ensure they block any UN Security Council censure over the violence that has forced those people to flee.

But in October 2016 a small and previously unknown militant group - the Arakan Rohingya Salvation Army (ARSA) - staged a series of well coordinated and deadly attacks on security forces.

Bangladesh's junior Foreign Minister Mohammed Shahriar Alam said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had 2,000 acres (810 hectares) near the existing camp of Kutupalong "to build temporary shelters for the Rohingya newcomers", according to a message posted Monday on his Facebook account.

It also called upon the United Nations to take the lead in stopping immediately the cold blooded and callous genocide of Rohingya Muslims.

"It is unfair for affected parties to inflict more cost to Malaysia to manage and to receive these people when they should be allowed fundamental and universal rights that have been denied to them", he said. The Narendra Modi government has also been consistent in its stand of calling the Rohingyas "illegal immigrants" and officially maintaining that they must be sent back to their country.

In the last two weeks, thousands of homes have been burned down, dozens of villages uprooted and thousands of people are still on the move towards the border with Bangladesh.
