Trump blasts Comey's exoneration of Clinton as part of a 'rigged system'

Considering the fact that President Trump had told MSNBC's Lester Holt that the firing was related to the Russian investigation, there is a very real possibility that the letter had expressed the same views by the President.

After Comey's shocking ouster earlier this year, DOJ Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein appointed former FBI boss Robert Mueller as the special counsel to oversee the FBI's Russian Federation investigation.

As was previously reported, Special Counsel Robert Mueller later obtained that letter.

Trump had been fuming about Comey for weeks, upset that he would not say publicly that the president was not under investigation, which Trump said Comey had assured him privately. Mueller is investigating Trump's firing of Comey and the administration's contradictory public statements to justify it, the newspaper reported.

Comey admitted that it made him "wildly nauseous" to think that the Clinton email investigation may have influenced the election while testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee in May.

Trump drafted the letter with senior policy adviser Stephen Miller on an early-May weekend visit to his golf club in Bedminster, N.J., and then shared it with senior aides during an Oval Office meeting the day before the firing, according to people familiar with the discussions.

Instead, a different letter, written by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, which focused on Comey's handling of the investigation into Hillary Clinton's private email server, was ultimately sent to the FBI director as a basis for his firing.

After FBI Director James Comey was sacked, the White House gave conflicting explanations as to why.

Second, Trump seems to have forgotten his own White House's talking points. Trump fired Comey on May 9. The acting director at the time, Andrew McCabe, later denied that the bureau had lost faith in Comey before his firing.

Interpretation of the news based on evidence, including data, as well as anticipating how events might unfold based on past events But, you might wonder, isn't it already pretty clear why Trump fired Comey? "But I'll tell you what he did, he brought back his reputation", Republican nominee Donald Trump says.

Mr. Comey's conduct during the hearing added to concerns of Mr. Sessions and Mr. Rosenstein that the F.B.I. director had botched the rollout of the Clinton investigation and had overstepped the boundaries of his job.

On Thursday, a Daily Beast report pointed out that the special counsel has enlisted the help of agents from the criminal investigation unit of the Internal Revenue Service.
