Addicks and Barker Water Levels Continue to Rise, Despite Corps Water Release

On Thursday Harvey began to make national news, as it quickly strengthened and new forecasts predicted that it could make landfall as a Category 3 hurricane, the first to strike the United States since 2005.
Residents in neighborhoods near the reservoirs had been asked to voluntarily evacuate.
As of midday Monday, Harvey's center was "near or just off the Texas coast south of Matagorda" and moving at almost 5 miles per hour, the hurricane center said.
