Barcelona Twitter account hacked and announces Di María signing

The hackers announced that a deal had been agreed for PSG midfielder Angel Di Maria and the club were forced to issue an apology and clarification.

The transfer was seen as controversial given that Di Maria, who now plays for Paris Saint-Germain, spent four years at Barcelona's enemies Real Madrid. OurMine is speculated to be a Saudi Arabian hacking group, which has been reported for another breach with the hashtag #FCBHack on the same account.

"Our accounts have been hacked", the club confirmed.

The former Real Madrid and Manchester United star has emerged as a target for the Catalan club after they conceded defeat in their attempts to sign Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool. We are working to fix it as soon as possible.

Angel Di Maria is also said to be interested in a return to Spain where he will have the opportunity to play with his fellow countryman Lionel Messi.

Barcelona have eight Twitter accounts in different languages.

FC Barcelona has tweeted a statement saying: "Our accounts have been hacked tonight. Thanks for your patience", the club announced.

OurMine has been credited with the hack of several high-profile accounts including the Twitter accounts of Netflix, WWE, HBO, Game of Thrones; Facebook accounts of CNN among others.
