  • Congress MLAs from Bengaluru arrive in Ahmedabad

The lodging of the Gujarat Congress MLAs in the Bengaluru resort has fallen into controversy.

I-T officials also visited the Eagleton Golf Resort where the minister was staying with Gujarat Congress MLAs.

IT officials said Rs 9 crore cash was recovered from the search of various properties linked to the minister.

Almost 39 premises owned by Shivakumar and his family were being searched by a team of about 120 IT officials along with Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel across the country, the official said. The premises of his brother, D K Suresh, who is an MP, at Kanakapura and of a close aide of Shivakumar named C S Ravi, who is an MLC, were also raided.

Speaking to reporters here, Prasad said "The Congress has repeatedly been blaming BJP over the purchasing of their leaders in Gujarat which is ridiculous". The search operation was decided well in advance, and it was only the minster's room that was searched and it has no concern or contact with other Gujarat MLAs. "The CRPF has been brought in violation of all rules".

Ruckus in Rajya Sabha: The Income-Tax raid against Minister Shivakumar was raised in the Rajya Sabha, with the Opposition blaming the NDA government of misusing state agencies.

Congress leaders have spoken out against this on social media as well.

Congress General Secretary Ashok Gehlot, who is in charge of the party affairs in Gujarat, on Wednesday criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying it is hell-bent upon killing democracy in the Rajya Sabha elections.

The tax authorities also interrogated for a couple of hours the energy minister, who belongs to Karnataka's ruling Congress party, at a resort in Bengaluru where he is now staying. "No MLA has been searched". As of now, they have taken him into his residence. A Minister of Karnataka has been searched. "He has been taken to his residence and questioned there", Jaitley said.
