Multiple Congressional committees as well as Special Counsel Robert Mueller are investigating potential collusion between the Russian government and the Trump campaign.

Sen. Richard Blumenthal, a member of the committee, said it was "long overdue" that Manafort be called to testify.

Trump Jr. said Tuesday he would be "happy" to work with a Senate Intelligence Committee now investigating alleged Russian meddling in the 2016 presidential election after he himself acknowledged meeting a Kremlin-linked lawyer during his father's campaign.

April 12: Maloni announced Manafort meant to officially register as a foreign agent.

Trump Jr. said Monday, after the meeting was reported but before releasing the emails, that he is "Happy to work with" another Senate committee "to pass on what I know".

Grassley is now asking how it was possible for Veselnitskaya to enter the United States for the meeting without a visa.

Trump Jr., in addition to being the president's son, was deeply involved in his presidential campaign.

"We have learned that the person who sought the meeting is associated with Fusion GPS, a firm which according to public reports was retained by Democratic operatives to develop opposition research on the president and which commissioned the phony Steele dossier", Mark Corallo, a spokesman for Trump's legal team, told Circa.

"It is unclear how she was still in the country for that meeting, despite being denied a visa beforehand and her parole purportedly expiring on January 7, 2016", Grassley wrote, according to a statement and copy of the letter released Wednesday.

Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee Chuck Grassley in Washington on September 20, 2016.

A former assistant attorney general overseeing the criminal division under President George W. Bush, Wray now works as a criminal defense lawyer based in Washington, D.C. Grassley said in a statement.

"It's a demanding job that requires a keen understanding of the law, sound management skills, calm under significant pressure and a level head", Grassley said.

President Donald Trump announced his nominee for Federal Bureau of Investigation director in a post on Twitter June 7.

"I think it's just raised a lot of questions. but the real way that I feel comfortable inviting him is ever since President Trump was elected", Grassley said Thursday.
