Wimbledon 2017: Hip injury forces Murray out of final warm-up match

World number one Andy Murray has withdrawn from an exhibition match ahead of Wimbledon due to a hip problem.

Here Press Association Sport looks at the issues Murray has encountered this term.

Murray's first week does not look too taxing if he can get going, but his fourth round could present a match against the hugely risky Australian with a theoretical quarter final against Stan Wawrinka. "Hopefully I get enough time on the court these next couple of weeks and work on some things, because I'm going to need to", said Murray in the wake of the shock defeat. It was another month-long absence before Murray was back in Monaco, where he suffered a third-round exit.

Bublik got his first taste of Centre Court on Saturday and said he would be nervous but the 20-year-old does not lack for confidence.

The women's draw sees World No.1 and last year's beaten finalist Angelique Kerber of Germany top the seedings with Romania's Simona Halep, Czech Karolina Pliskova and Ukrainian Elina Svitolina rounding up the top four.

"We were always chased off by the rain".

Elsewhere, world number two Novak Djokovic managed just nine minutes of play against Canadian Vasek Pospisil at Eastbourne before rain led to play being cancelled for the day. "I guess I will get some show time there". If you ask me how many titles [Roger] Federer has won, I will not know.

"This tournament has given me great preparation in the past". "Of course it helps that we have a good relationship as we spend all our days together".

However, his team are keen to play down prospects that Murray will pull out of Wimbledon.

He explained: "After the ball landed in, I was like: 'Is there a camera?' I wasn't even worrying about the fact that it was 4-3 in the tie-break". I was up 6-2, 5-2 and then I started playing left-handed, thinking: 'OK, I don't want to play with you'.
