Jury asks another question in Bill Cosby case

The jury has deliberated a total of about 16 hours over two days.

Each charge in the closely-watched case-one of the biggest U.S. celebrity trials in years-is punishable by up to 10 years in jail and a $25,000 fine.

Cosby couldn't risk taking the stand and being cross-examined about his more than 50 other accusers if he denied ever drugging or molesting anyone. He says the encounter was consensual.

The 12-member jury, which failed to reach a verdict on Monday, has been sequestered throughout their trial. In the latest question, they asked the court to reread the testimony of Canadian Detective Dave Mason.

Cosby is charged with drugging and molesting Constand, 44.

Constand, however, testified that she took them only after Cosby intimated they were herbal and that the drugs left her unable to resist his assault.

He says there's a high probability of a hung jury given what's been presented in court and the back story between Cosby and his accuser in this case, Andrea Constand.

"They are, in effect, putting on a defense when they cross-examine witnesses when they make an impassioned opening statement, when they move for a mistrial like this defense did", she says.

Constand's lawyer, Dolores Troiani, told reporters that Jackson is "not telling the truth" and faulted Wyatt for circulating Jackson's statement while jurors were deliberating.

So Jackson, whose statement was issued to the court on November 20, permitted Cosby spokesman Andrew Wyatt to read what the jury may have considered compelling testimony.

Jackson says Constand once told her she'd been drugged and sexually assaulted. Another witness, Kelly Johnson, testified that she was the victim of a similar attack by the comedian in 1996.

The jury in Bill Cosby's sex assault trial wants to know what "without her knowledge" means in one of the three counts they're weighing against the 79-year-old comedian.

Cosby has been on trial since June 5, facing three counts of aggravated indecent assault. He says it was consensual.

Deliberations continued on Tuesday (13Jun17), and as Cosby awaits to hear the verdict, he is staying positive. "The State has the burden of proving a client's guilt beyond a reasonable doubt and Mr. Cosby is presumed innocent unless/until the state meets this heavy burden, explains criminal defense attorney Court Will". The investigation initially was undertaken by former District Attorney Bruce L. Castor Jr., who in February 2005 determined there was insufficient and unreliable evidence to prosecute Cosby, who was 67 at the time.

Cosby, who based his long career on a family-friendly comedy style, did not testify.

The jury in the Bill Cosby sexual assault case drilled down Tuesday on what the TV star said happened inside his Cheltenham home and how he characterized his relationship with the accuser as it weighs charges that could send him to prison for the rest of his life. Deliberations began yesterday evening. Two were clarifications of a deposition Cosby gave more than a decade ago in a civil case, the third was a definition.

The 79-year-old entertainer did not take the stand at his trial, but prosecutors used Cosby's decade-old deposition testimony as evidence. In another question late in the day, jurors asked to listen again to the testimony of an officer who was the first to interview Constand when she reported the incident in 2005. It seems like it'd be a pretty big story if the dozens and dozens of women who have accused Bill Cosby are all lying as part of a massive conspiracy dragging Cosby down because he told black people to pull their trousers up.
