White House communications director Mike Dubke resigns

01 June, 2017, 00:51 | Author: Gregory Stephens

The move could be the first in a series of staff changes in the White House, rumored since the pressure has turned up in the investigations into possible collusion between Russian Federation and the Trump campaign during the election.

Dubke is the founder of Crossroads Media, which brands itself "the premier Republican media services firm" on its website.

The White House resumed its daily press briefings after returning from President Trump's first foreign trip this past weekend.

Dubke oversaw the White House communications office, which ran press and other outreach efforts.

"He has expressed his desire to leave the White House and made very clear that he would see through the president's global trip", White House adviser Kellyanne Conway said in an interview on Fox News, referring to Trump's first overseas trip to the Middle East and Europe that ended on Saturday.

"Ultimately the best messenger is the president himself", Spicer said on Tuesday.

"They have talked to many people, including me", Bossie said.

Trump is also struggling with his legislative agenda.

Attorney General Jeff Sessions and Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein initially interviewed eight people for the post, but the White House has not identified any as a finalist or top contender, and some have taken their own names out of consideration.

But it's not the first such anecdote to come out of Spicer's trip overseas - he was also left out of President Donald Trump's meeting with Pope Francis at the Vatican, ostensibly due to space constraints.

Without mentioning which Trump associates or aides were discussed, the sources told CNN that the conversations involved members of Trump's campaign team.

Reporters are also likely to ask about Jared Kushner's communication with Russian officials.

Dubke, who has been in the role for three months, handed in his resignation on May 18, Axios reported. The person wasn't authorized to publicly discuss private policy deliberations and insisted on anonymity.

White House chief of staff Reince Priebus thanked Dubke in a statement and said he had "offered to remain onboard until a transition is concluded". "Very bad for U.S. This will change", He tweeted at about 7 a.m. ET.
