  • Niantic Employee Hints at a

Ever since Pokémon GO launched a year ago fans have pondered the topic of Legendary monsters and when they will eventually appear in the game. Some of them even went as far as trying to recreate the Pokemon themselves, which was met with swift punishment on the part of developer Niantic. As reported by Nintendo Everything, Niantic marketing lead Archit Bhargava made a short award acceptance speech at the 21st Annual Webby Awards, where the mobile game won the award for, well, "Best Mobile Game".

Held on May 22, Monday, Bhargava commented while accepting the best mobile game honor for "Pokemon Go" that the summer season "will be legendary" for avid players, iDigital Times quoted the said executive as saying. Now that Niantic sort of confirms the summer release date, all that's left for fans is to guess when exactly Pokemon GO is being updated with the much-awaited features. Now we know that Niantic has promised that legendary Pokemon, player trading, and player battles would be features that would be launched in the near future, but without a specific time frame we're sure that more than one gamer has started to get a bit antsy. Then again, maybe Niantic is going to throw us a curveball. Dubbed the "Adventure Week" challenge, players will have the chance to catch more Rock-type Pokemon creatures including the rare Aerodactyl, according to an announcement posted on the game's website. Recent rumors suggests that the next major Pokemon GO update will focus on gyms so the wait for legendaries may not be too excruciating. The dataminer NesstendoYT on YouTube has already discovered the Gen 1 legendary Pokemon Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, Mewtwo and Mew in the game files. Could Niantic have done this deliberately, or could they have done it by accident?
