Celebrities and lawmakers joined a Tax Day demonstration in New York City, where protesters planned to march to Trump Tower to demand that President Donald Trump release his tax returns.

Saturday's rallies - sponsored by a large coalition of mostly left-leaning groups - is unlikely surpass that magnitude, but cities from Denver to Washington, DC are nonetheless expecting tens of thousands. These inflatable snow-white roosters with Trumpian gold combs and wattles flew to America by jet thanks to author Danelle Morton, a march organizer.

The demonstrations are taking place on the traditional April 15 Tax Day, the deadline for filing federal tax returns, although the IRS this year pushed back the deadline by three days.

"We're marching on Washington, D.C., and around the country to ask Donald Trump: WHAT ARE YOU HIDING?" the organizers say on their website. They say the proposed cuts to health care, education, transportation are cruel and inhumane. Trump's break with precedent has raised questions about possible conflicts of interest.

Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), ranking member on the Senate Finance Committee; Rep. Meanwhile, no single concern stands out for Republicans: 49% say they are "bothered a great deal" by the complexity of the tax system, 44% by the feeling corporations don't pay their fair share.

"I wanted to express myself and never in my wildest dreams did I think I would be standing here today, seeing this idea that I tweeted out in January come to life", she told the BBC at the Washington DC march. "This is true of Democrats, it's true of independents - and it's also true of Republicans", said Global Strategy Group President Jefrey Pollock.
