Marianne and the Movies: Tale as old as time just got better

25 March, 2017, 00:10 | Author: Courtney Perry

Another classic cartoon turned into a live-action production hit theaters on March 17, 2017.

My favorite Disney film from my childhood was "Beauty and the Beast". I loved nearly everything about this movie.

Beauty and the Beast is in United Kingdom cinemas now. When Disney announced they would be remaking this specific princess story, fans were extremely anxious to see how they would portray these unique characters. The new songs also seem out of place in the context of the story and drag out moments that could have been expressed in a better way. Instead, she finds he's been taken prisoner by the Beast (Dan Stevens), a prince who is suffering a curse because of his lack of compassion. In addition to supplementary dialogue, the film features new songs and scenes that expand the story to add insight into Belle's family life and background.

I'd say Beauty and the Beast adds far more than it takes, and is certainly worth the money. Watson gave a fine performance, however she never disappeared into the character. As for the script, the screenwriters try to add extra plot to everything-it feels like they've just chucked material at a wall to see what sticks. The animated film - which introduced audiences to Belle - has endured as one of the most popular animated films, and it was also the first animated film to be nominated for Best Picture. Everything was so detailed, vivid and realistic. The film is destined for box office glory, giving audiences what they have anxiously waited for since the film's announcement in 2015 but packs a creative and exhilarating punch.

It is known that big-named celebrities like Watson will always be surrounded with not more than enough watchful eyes of the public.

All of the many elements come together in "Beauty and the Beast" to set a new standard for bringing a fairy tale to the big screen.

There was some unexpected backlash over LeFou's sexual orientation, with some critics claiming his homosexuality was not appropriate for a children's movie and considering it an unappreciated change in personality from the classic character. Josh Gad was a wonderful contrast, playing a more reluctant villain as LeFou, truly making the character his own. She also makes it clear that a feminist does not have a specific uniform, and that a feminist can be a nudist and a feminist can also be a male.

Watson was previously the highest-earning actress of the year in 2010. She did very well playing the personality of Belle, but I would have liked to see Belle played by someone more radiantly handsome. Feminism Emma Watson herself would appreciate.

It's amusing that Disney has only recently been given praise for creating strong female heroines, and have been chastised for its past princesses all needing a man to save them.

However, let's cut straight to the chase here, the greatest issue I found with this movie is that I've already seen it. "For me, there's definitely a different level of vulnerability".

In typical Disney fashion, the scenery in this movie is breathtaking. The details of the scenes were astounding, the household item characters coming to life were nothing less than incredible, and the actors did a remarkable job becoming a fictional character. Gah, Disney, why wouldn't you give us this joy!
