  • APHC demands release of illegally detained Hurriyet leaders activists

Basit was referring to the World Happiness Report 2017 which placed both China (79th position) and Pakistan (80th position) ahead of India (122nd position) and other South Asian countries.

Pakistan's High Commissioner to India, Abdul Basit, on Thursday stated that New Delhi could only suppress, but not quell the Kashmiri people's struggle for freedom.

He said Pakistan was keen to settle all the issues with India, including the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, through dialogue.

Pakistan has showed concern over the detention of Hurriyet leaders in Indian Held Kashmir.

"We impress upon India to release the Kashmiri leaders and representatives from Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir so that they are able to attend Pakistan National Day reception", the statement concluded. He said March 23 required its citizens to affirm their pledge to not hesitate in giving any sacrifice for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan. "Struggle for freedom of Kashmiri people will one day succeed by the grace of god", he was quoted to have said by the channel.

Earlier, Pakistan on Thursday asserted that the Jammu and Kashmir issue must be resolved as per the "aspirations of Kashmiris", saying it can be suppressed but not quelled.

Asif also told India that it has been taking the wrong hints from Pakistan's Indus Water Commissioner Asif Beg's surname. "Pakistan would be well-advised to effectively address the challenge of terrorism emanating from that country, which has adversely affected peace and stability in the entire neighbourhood as well as Pakistan's relations with other countries", Baglay said.
