Tyrod Taylor post game following win vs. 49ers

17 October, 2016, 05:18 | Author: Lula Armstrong

Controversial quarterback Colin Kaepernick makes his first start in almost a year as the San Francisco 49ers attempt to halt their string of four consecutive losses when they visit the streaking Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

McCoy and Beckham returned quickly, but Roethlisberger left his return up in the air for a bit, with the team listing him as questionable after he was injured on an interception in the second quarter, having completed 5 of 9 passes for 41 yards. "And they said, 'All right, never mind, we can't play it like that.' Maybe they'll come at it differently with Kap being back there".

But Kaepernick doesn't play defense.

But the threat of the quarterback-driven run game is more imposing with Kaepernick back in the starting lineup.

McCoy led the way as he rushed for 140 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries, while quarterback Tyrod Taylor added 68 yards and fellow running back Mike Gillislee contributed 60 yards and a touchdown on just six carries.

Hyde is the NFL's eighth-leading rusher with 377 yards and six touchdowns. Some doubted him as a result, and that was an unfamiliar feeling.

It was an astonishing effort by offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn's backfield, and there's no reason to believe that Buffalo's incredible effort on the ground will stop anytime soon.

"I thought he was OK", coach Chip Kelly said in assessing Kaepernick's outing.

If knocking knees with 49ers linebacker Nick Bellore late in the first half couldn't slow down the player nicknamed, "Shady", what chance did the 49ers porous run defense have? While talk often is cheap in the nation's capital, the host Redskins can make a significant statement today should they defeat the division-rival Philadelphia Eagles for a fourth consecutive time. With Buffalo's red-hot run scheme on the other side, it figured to be a challenge.

"To me, I see it as very Patriotic and American to uphold the United to States to the standards that it says it lives by". "We've got to do a better job there, and it's technique, it's tackling, it's doing a better job executing scheme".

No matter the situation, the Niners again sprung leaks.

Kaepernick overshot Smith on a potential scoring deep ball in the first quarter. Yet, the rest of his team, especially on defense, was laughably bad, sometimes, seemingly nonchalant in losing its fifth-straight game. It's also the franchise's first five-game slide since 2010.

Offensively, the Bills are averaging 23.4 points and 306.6 total yards (169.4 in passing and 137.2 in rushing ) per game.

Back in the spotlight, however, this game, and his performance, was never going to exclusively be about football.

As they get ready to try and procure a fourth-straight victory, there's a bit of a different feel to this game. Connecting with receiver Torrey Smith to take advantage of a blown defensive assignment for a 53-yard touchdown pass, his first of the season.
