Pliskova, however, produced a recovery in the second set, eventually breaking Konta at the seventh attempt in a tight sixth game to lead 4-2 and then closing out her own service to level the contest.

"I'm definitely enjoying my time here".

Johanna Konta outlasted Madison Keys in three tough sets to reach the final of the China Open, becoming the first British woman in 32 years to break into the top 10 of world tennis in the process. She also broke Konta twice in the second before serving out the win with an ace.

Konta looked to be at about the peak of her hard court game in the second set while Zhang never looked comfortable against her aggressive opponent, losing the match 6-4, 6-0.

Monfils, a runner-up at the Japan Open's 2010 edition, is now set to play Kyrgios, who comfortably fended off a challenge from Gilles Muller of Luxembourg 6-4, 6-2.

Konta, who is chasing her second WTA title of the year, will also move into the top eight in the Road to Singapore, meaning she is on course to qualify for the WTA Finals later this month.

Radwanska, who is locked in for the WTA Finals at Singapore said on court (as reported by WTATennis.com) said: "Every title means a lot, but especially here when you play against the best players in the world, in one of the biggest tournaments".

"I am really pleased with this week", she said. I think it was very important. Konta has 10 career victories over top-10 players with seven of them coming this season. "Yeah, really giving my best tomorrow and see where that takes me".

The Briton, usually a solid baseliner, repeatedly pushed to the net as she tried to shift the match momentum in her favour, but it was a risky strategy that cost her 29 unforced errors.

"I've lost quite a few matches this year, but sure it has been the most consistent of my career".

The London-based Tennis Integrity Unit (TIU) received an alert regarding one match played at the championships, it was announced.
